Basketball Recap: Ridgway Takes a Loss

Ridgway lost against Olathe back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Ridgway Demons were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to the Olathe Pirates. While the Demons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 15-6 in the first quarter.

Ridgway's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Deppen, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Deppen is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Josue Born also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Isaiah Gordon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Olathe, putting up 36 points in addition to six steals and five boards. The contest was Gordon's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Elijah Gordon was another key player, posting 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Ridgway and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Olathe, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Ridgway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-35 win against Ouray on the 24th. As for Olathe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-56 loss against North Fork on the 24th.
