The Hazel Park Vikings will square off against the Mott Marauders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hazel Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Hazel Park came up short against Clawson on Wednesday, falling 12-4. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Hazel Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zay Justice, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mott waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Marauders, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kevin Barden made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has become a key player for Mott: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Barden was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Mott got a big performance out of Brandon Fletcher, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double was Fletcher's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dustin Mayfield, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Mott now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Hazel Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
