Topeka's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miguel Villegas, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. Villegas continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Da'mykel Hales was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists and two blocks.
Topeka has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Manhattan, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
Topeka will be playing at home against Emporia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Emporia and Topeka are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Manhattan, they will head out on the road to challenge Junction City at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Junction City will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Manhattan surely won't give up without a fight.
