Petrolia and Archer City are an even 4-4 against one another since August of 2014, but not for long. The Petrolia Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Archer City Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Archer City took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Petrolia, who comes in off a win.
After only seven points in their last contest, Petrolia made sure to put some points up on the board against Munday on Friday. Petrolia took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 49-6 win over Munday.
Meanwhile, Archer City and Windthorst were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but Archer City suffered an agonizing 28-27 loss. Despite 68 more yards than Windthorst, Archer City couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Archer City might have lost, but man, Laine Hall was a machine: he rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Chance Warren, who picked up 45 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Petrolia's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Archer City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Petrolia might still be hurting after the 27-7 defeat they got from Archer City in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Petrolia have more luck at home instead of on the road?
