Softball Recap: Mckinney Boyd Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for McKinney Boyd, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Princeton Panthers a 13-0 shutout on Thursday. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.

Sophia Vlahos made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Vlahos was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Smith was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Addyson Lewis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

McKinney Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.

McKinney Boyd's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-12. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Princeton, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-21-1.

As of now, neither McKinney Boyd nor the Panthers have any future games scheduled.
