Mark Twain hasn't had much luck against North Callaway recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will host the Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m.
Mark Twain is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Van-Far.
Brayden Moss made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Snodgrass, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, while North Callaway put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Clopton. The Thunderbirds put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbirds, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Not much got past Carter Moore, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Clopton off the board. Moore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Caleb Sheets was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Chance Green was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for North Callaway and bumps their season record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Mark Twain, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mark Twain has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Callaway struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Mark Twain suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to North Callaway in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
