The Livingston Wolves will face off against the Calaveras Red Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Livingston 3.9, Calaveras 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Livingston is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Ripon. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since May 8, 2024.
Mariah Blaine spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Livingston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Avila, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Calaveras waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Hawks, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Kamryn Thornburg's shutout, as she gave up just two hits.
On the hitting side, Emma Clark was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Carlee Jasper was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Calaveras was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Linden only posted a batting average of .167.
Livingston is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Calaveras, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7-1.
Calaveras' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Livingston has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Calaveras, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Livingston's hitters?
