The Katella Knights pushed their score all the way to 70 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 84-70 fall against Westminster. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (61), Katella still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Katella had strong showings from Jace Aikins, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Dillon Curtis, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aikins has scored all season.
Westminster got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Vincent Ton out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Matt Tran was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Katella's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Westminster, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.
Katella will be playing in front of their home fans against Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Garden Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Westminster, they will head out on the road to take on Godinez Fundamental at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Godinez Fundamental is on a nine-game streak of home wins, Westminster a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
