The Sayre Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the Bryan Station Defenders at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sayre will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Sayre is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Woodford County, who was ranked 25th at the time (Sayre was ranked second). The Spartans walked away with a 7-4 win over the Yellowjackets on Saturday. The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Yellowjackets on their field since May 30, 2017.

03/12/25 @ Franklin County | 3 |
03/24/25 vs West Jessamine | 2 |
04/08/25 @ Tate | 1 |

Elliott Jansky tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Sayre saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Beall, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Beall a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Bryan Station had just enough and edged out Tates Creek 5-4 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Defenders.
Samuel Wilkerson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bryan Station is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-8 otherwise. Wilkerson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Bryan Station hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Bryan Station's record is now 7-9. As for Sayre, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Bryan Station's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sayre has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. It's a different story for Bryan Station, though, as they've only averaged .345. Will they be able to contain Sayre's hitters?
Sayre came out on top in a nail-biter against Bryan Station in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
