Basketball Recap: Parkersburg Christian Falls Short Against Ranked Mount Hope Christian Academy

On Saturday, Parkersburg Christian faced Mount Hope Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Parkersburg Christian took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mount Hope Christian Academy Warriors. Parkersburg Christian hasn't had much luck with Mount Hope Christian Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Parkersburg Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Wyatt Meadows and Ashton Peeples. Meadows posted 17 points and three steals, while Peeples earned 15 points and five steals. Meadows' afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Mount Hope Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore TALAN CARON, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points along with eight boards and five assists. CARON is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of MALACHI FLOHR, who put up 17 points and six rebounds.

Parkersburg Christian now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Parkersburg Christian will venture away from home to face off against Elk Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mount Hope Christian Academy, they will head out to challenge Jefferson Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Hope Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.7 points per game this season.
