After three games on the road, Seekonk is heading back home. They will take on The Case Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Seekonk fell victim to Fairhaven's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of the Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, Seekonk can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts football rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Fairhaven is ranked 55th).
Meanwhile, Case was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 28-24 to Bourne. Case has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Case saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sam Melo, who picked up 77 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Nathan Wood was another key contributor, rushing for 139 yards.
Seekonk's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-2 Bourne and 5-2 Rockland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.1% over those games). As for Case, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Everything went Seekonk's way against Case in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as Seekonk made off with a 32-6 win. Does Seekonk have another victory up their sleeve, or will Case turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
