It was a good run, but the Beddingfield Bruins unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Goldsboro. While losing is never fun, Beddingfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Goldsboro is ranked 45th).
Beddingfield lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sa'Naiya Coppedge, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Natasha Marshall, who scored 15 points along with six assists and three steals.
Beddingfield's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-3. As for Goldsboro, they pushed their record up to 13-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Beddingfield will take on North Johnston at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. North Johnston's defense has only allowed 18.8 points per game this season, so Beddingfield's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Goldsboro, they will head out on the road to face off against Princeton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Princeton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
