The Fleming Island Golden Eagles had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 79-70 win over Clay on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fleming Island found their leader in underclassman Carson Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Crawford hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was George Hamm, who scored 18 points.
The win got Fleming Island back to even at 10-10. As for Clay, they bumped their record down to 8-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Fleming Island will face off against Bolles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clay, they will be playing at home against Tocoi Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
