Softball Recap: Poinciana Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Poinciana's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Liberty Chargers as they made off with an 18-3 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six games by more than 12 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Savannah Alsen made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Izabella Rodriguez was a standout: she scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Ashley Figueroa was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Poinciana hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Poinciana's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Liberty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Coincidentally, Poinciana and Liberty will both be playing Celebration the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Storm at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Chargers will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
