Baseball Recap: Wheelersburg Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

While Wheelersburg put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Northwest. The Pirates put the hurt on the Mohawks with a sharp 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Ean Conn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Conn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brady Doss was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Picklesimer, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Wheelersburg has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Wheelersburg will head out to face off against Eastern at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Northwest, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Glenwood at 12:00 p.m. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.67 runs per game on average), something the Mohawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
