The Classical Magnet Gladiators pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-60 to Academy of Science and Innovation. It was the first time this season that Classical Magnet let down their fans at home.
Academy of Science and Innovation had a senior duo take command as Amari Cruz dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds and Jamal Kulaib scored 22 points along with seven steals. The matchup was Cruz's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Amir Bolden, who scored two points along with five steals.
Classical Magnet's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1-1.
Classical Magnet will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they will head out on the road to face off against Sports & Medical Sciences Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Sports & Medical Sciences Academy is ranked 26th, while Academy of Science and Innovation is ranked 36th).
