On Wednesday, Father Tolton faced the Battle Spartans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Father Tolton came out on top against Battle by a score of 71-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Vernell Holt and Tate McCubbin certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Holt scored 19 points, while McCubbin scored 15 points along with two steals. Keshun Jackson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Father Tolton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Battle, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3.
Father Tolton will square off against Curie at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Curie will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak. As for Battle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Zumwalt South at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
