It was a good run, but the Ripon Christian Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Gregori 56-50. Ripon Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Gregori apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Friday.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jake Vander Veen, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Luke Crivello, who scored 14 points.
Gregori's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dru Shafer, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Shafer continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Raj Sandhu was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Ripon Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Gregori, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ripon Christian will challenge Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hughson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 936th, while Ripon Christian is ranked 344th). Gregori and Central Catholic will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Central Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Saturday.
