Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Tellico Plains Bears

Having just played yesterday, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Tellico Plains Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Notre Dame is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Collegedale Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Notre Dame blew Collegedale Academy out of the water with a 71-33 final score. The Fighting Irish pushed the score to 55-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Collegedale Eagle had no chance of recovering from.

Gaas Herman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 31 points. His evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Walt Wagnon, who posted nine points.

Meanwhile, Tellico Plains came tearing into Friday's game with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 86-62 victory. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 23 points or more this season.

Tellico Plains pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Notre Dame, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Notre Dame took their win against Tellico Plains when the teams last played back in December of 2017 by a conclusive 67-44. Does Notre Dame have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tellico Plains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
