The South Iredell Vikings will square off against the Davie War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Iredell is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
South Iredell will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Mooresville, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Vikings came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday.
Dylan Hughesman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Brendan Blankenship looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Jake Crowley was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Davie). They blew past R.J. Reynolds 20-7 on Tuesday. The War Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Hunter Potts, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Davie: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Allen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Davie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
South Iredell's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Davie, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-12.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Iredell has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Davie struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Iredell was able to grind out a solid win over Davie when the teams last played back in April of 2021, winning 5-1. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the War Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
