Spruce is 8-2 against the Spartans since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Spruce Timberwolves will head out on the road to challenge the Samuell Spartans at 8:00 p.m. Spruce comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Tuesday, Spruce was beaten by the Dragons 78-33. While losing is never fun, Spruce can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1395th, while the Dragons are ranked 280th).
Meanwhile, Samuell pushed their score all the way to 64 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to Adams. Samuell's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Spruce's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Samuell, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7.
Spruce took a serious blow against the Spartans when the teams last played back in January, falling 80-29. Can Spruce avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
