Lake Gibson is 0-3 against Pasco since February of 2024 but things could change on Wednesday. The Lake Gibson Braves will head out on the road to challenge the Pasco Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lake Gibson took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Tenoroc a 27-0 shutout. The Braves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mark Simpson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lake Gibson is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Simpson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Bryant, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dalton Cone, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Lake Gibson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.4.
Meanwhile, Pasco beat Hudson 5-1 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Cobras: they've now won eight in a row.
Like Lake Gibson, Pasco also got a great game from a two-way player: Jayce Rollins. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Rollins has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Rollins wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Boomer Newton, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Lake Gibson pushed their record up to 3-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pasco, their record is now 6-2.
Lake Gibson might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Pasco in their previous meeting back in February. Can Lake Gibson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
