The Elbert County Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They lost to Athens Christian on the road by a decisive 68-54 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elbert County in their matchups with Athens Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Elbert County still got an impressive performance from Landon Hill, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dk Winn, who scored nine points.
Elbert County bumped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Athens Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.
Elbert County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oglethorpe County at 6:30 p.m. on January 13th. Oglethorpe County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Elbert County in Georgia (Oglethorpe County is ranked 211th, while Elbert County is ranked 426th). As for Athens Christian, they will be playing at home against Rabun County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Rabun County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
