Valor Christian is 5-0 against Legend since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Valor Christian Eagles will play host again and welcome the Legend Titans, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Two weeks ago, Valor Christian faced Mountain Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Valor Christian managed a 39-34 victory over Mountain Vista.
Valor Christian had a senior duo take command as Asher Weiner rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns and Gabe Sawchuk rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Legend had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 51-14 win over Brighton on the road. The result was nothing new for Legend, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Jaden Lawrence was his usual excellent self, rushing for 74 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Farley, who threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Valor Christian pushed their record up to 6-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Fairview and 10-3 Ralston Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 58.5% over those games). As for Legend, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Valor Christian against Legend in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-14 victory. Will Valor Christian repeat their success, or does Legend have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
