The Hoopeston Cornjerkers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Schlarman on the road to the tune of 77-27. That looming 77-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Hoopeston yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoopeston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Root, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. The game was Root's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Eisenman, who scored 20 points along with four steals.
Hoopeston pushed their record up to 13-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Schlarman, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoopeston won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oakwood at 5:00 p.m. on January 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Oakwood is ranked 292nd, while Hoopeston is ranked 308th). As for Schlarman, they will look to defend their home court on January 17th against Iroquois West at 7:30 p.m.
