American extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-19. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kennedy Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-6 back in April.
Dhawani Badala was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Kennedy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-11. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
On Kennedy's side, Madelyn Montague made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Montague has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Violet Jaramillo tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
Back at the plate, Kennedy let Lucienne Sotelo and Savannah De La Mater run wild. Sotelo went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while De La Mater went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave De La Mater a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Kahler, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. American will challenge Moreau Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mariners have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Kennedy, they will take on Newark Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
