Rampart hasn't had much luck against Pine Creek recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will welcome the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rampart is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Lewis-Palmer, falling 16-10.
Brayden Valdez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Justus Derickson, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Pine Creek entered their tilt with Fountain-Fort Carson on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Tristan Mullis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Matthew Brady looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Aiden Wilson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Brayden Moreno was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles.
Pine Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in six consecutive games.
Pine Creek's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Rampart, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Rampart couldn't quite get it done against Pine Creek when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
