Cajon is 3-0 against Beaumont since March of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Cajon Cowboys will be playing at home against the Beaumont Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Cajon made easy work of Yucaipa and carried off a 32-8 victory.
Cajon's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brandon Rivers, who gained 157 total yards and two touchdowns, and Evan Powell, who threw for 368 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was B Birmingham, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Yucaipa to a paltry 140 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Cajon's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Damion Ortiz and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Beaumont never let their opponents score on Friday. They really took it to Redlands for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-0 win at home. Given Beaumont's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Redlands is ranked 412th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Myion Walker was on fire: he rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Cooper, who threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Cajon to 6-3 and Beaumont to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Cajon against Beaumont when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 38-7 win. Does Cajon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Beaumont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
