If the Madison Plains Golden Eagles were feeling good off their 57-28 takedown of the Northeastern Jets last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Madison Plains took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Jefferson on Tuesday. Madison Plains lost against West Jefferson in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 53-23 score last time.
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Claire Mason, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Reeves, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Madison Plains' defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for West Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Madison Plains will take on Cedarville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cedarville will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for West Jefferson, they will head out on the road to face off against Northeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northeastern is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home.
