The Highlands Ranch Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 88-64 loss at the hands of ThunderRidge. While losing is never fun, Highlands Ranch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while ThunderRidge is ranked first).
Highlands Ranch's loss came despite strong showings from George West III and Olin Anderson. West III scored 13 points along with two steals, while Anderson scored 12 points along with two blocks. Luke Bakken was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
ThunderRidge had a senior duo take command as Charlie Spann dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds and Tommy Wight scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Spann has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Crawford, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Highlands Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for ThunderRidge, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highlands Ranch will take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Heritage focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday. As for ThunderRidge, they will be playing at home against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Douglas County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matches.
