Derek Kruszewski and Daniel Hussey did some serious damage despite the final result: Kruszewski went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Hussey went 3-for-4 with one triple. Kruszewski has become a key player for Medina Christian Academy: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lawrence Upper duked it out with Bedford on Thursday. The Lions walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Bearcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.
Max Samac made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Samac was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Asher Davis, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Jordan Jackson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Lawrence Upper pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Medina Christian Academy, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Medina Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Lawrence Upper struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
