Baseball Recap: Cliffside Park Wins Going Away Against Garfield

While Cliffside Park put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Garfield. The Raiders blew past the Boilermakers 15-0. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The result came thanks to John Raftopolous's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Derek Sanchez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Freddy Fland, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5.

Cliffside Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Cliffside Park and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Garfield, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Cliffside Park will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Paramus Catholic at 4:15 p.m. As for Garfield, they will venture away from home to face off against Becton at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
