Galena is 6-0 against Commerce since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Galena Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Commerce Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Galena is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.
Galena suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 52-22 loss at the hands of Columbus. Galena was down 43-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Commerce came up short against Hillcrest on Saturday and fell 44-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Commerce has scored all season.
Galena's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Commerce, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Galena was able to grind out a solid victory over Commerce in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, winning 43-30. Will Galena repeat their success, or does Commerce have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
