Roosevelt has gone a perfect 9-0 against Nathan Hale recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Roughriders will host the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Roosevelt will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
While Roosevelt's victory against Seattle Prep wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Roughriders skirted past the Panthers 13-11. The Roughriders haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Gretchen Harder made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.
In other batting news, Pia Regala was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Samantha Wright was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Nathan Hale came into Saturday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Ingraham on Saturday. That looming 14-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Raiders yet this season.
Like Roosevelt, Nathan Hale also got a great game from a two-way player: Francis Shutts. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Shutts was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Caitlin Low was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sachi Jones, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Nathan Hale's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Roosevelt, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Roosevelt has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Nathan Hale struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Roosevelt's way against Nathan Hale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Roosevelt made off with a 17-1 win. Will the Roughriders repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
