The Oldham County Colonels fell victim to the St. Xavier Tigers''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Tigers 58-0. While losing is never fun, Oldham County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while St. Xavier is ranked ninth).
St. Xavier was led to victory by Wyatt Graven and Thomas Andriole. Graven rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, while Andriole threw for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only seven passes. Graven was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 68 yards. Marlon Harbin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Oldham County are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 3.5 points per game. As for St. Xavier, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.
Oldham County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. Xavier will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Trinity. Trinity is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
