Quincy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Portola Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Quincy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Loyalton on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Grizzlies 61-55. Quincy has not had much luck with Loyalton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, Portola scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 94-84 win over Plumas Charter. The win was familiar territory for Portola who now have three in a row.
Portola relied on the efforts of Connor Sheridan, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Magnus Berg, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berg has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Bowling, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Quincy dropped their record down to 8-17 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Portola, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.
Quincy came up short against Portola when the teams last played back in January, falling 69-62. Can Quincy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
