The Bremen Lions will challenge the West Noble Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bremen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Bremen barely beat Pioneer the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions blew past the Panthers 11-4 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.
Aiden Alvarado made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Alvarado was also solid in the batter's box, earning three RBI, one run, and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JJ Cencelewski, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aden Hunziker, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bremen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Noble fell victim to Westview and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 12-0 to the Warriors. That makes it the first time this season the Chargers have let down their home crowd.
Bremen's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Noble, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.
West Noble's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bremen has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. It's a different story for West Noble, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Bremen's hitters?
Bremen beat West Noble 9-5 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
