Basketball Recap: Albertville Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Albertville hadn't done well against Huntsville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Albertville Aggies walked away with a 53-40 victory over the Huntsville Panthers. The win was familiar territory for the Aggies who have now won five games in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Albertville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lani Smallwood, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Smallwood's afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mylie Butler, who went 6 of 14 en route to 13 points and five rebounds.

Albertville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Albertville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Huntsville, they dropped their record down to 10-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Albertville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-50 victory against Mortimer Jordan on the 9th. As for Huntsville, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Huntsville Panthers face off against the Grissom Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
