Basketball Game Preview: Gibsonburg Golden Bears vs. St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks

The Gibsonburg Golden Bears will venture away from home to square off against the St. Joseph Central Catholic Crimson Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibsonburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.

Gibsonburg came up into this matchup off a tough 41-point defeat last Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Old Fort by a score of 68-65 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Golden Bears have suffered since March 1, 2024.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Hunter Wasserman, who went 6 of 8 en route to 17 points and eight rebounds. Those 17 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aiden Senters, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Gibsonburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Joseph Central Catholic had to endure a ten-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged Danbury out 73-71. The Crimson Streaks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

This is the second loss in a row for Gibsonburg and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for St. Joseph Central Catholic, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-8.

Gibsonburg skirted past St. Joseph Central Catholic 38-36 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Gibsonburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Joseph Central Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
