Cuba has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Sandia Prep Sundevils at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cuba focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Cuba had to suffer through a rough 69-33 loss at the hands of the Bobcats. Cuba was down 58-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the defeat, Cuba saw an underclassman step up: Richard Lovato scored five points along with seven rebounds.
Sandia Prep can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against East Mountain and snuck past 46-44.
Cuba dropped their record down to 5-13 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Sandia Prep, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-15.
Cuba was dealt a bruising 66-29 defeat at the hands of the Sundevils when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Cuba avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
