The Eldorado Firehawks will venture away from home to face off against the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Eldorado is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 58-0 win over Rancho. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Eldorado found their leader in sophomore Andru Davis, who rushed for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Izyiah Rivera-Kyle got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Eldorado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Eldorado, racking up 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Rivera-Kyle, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Mater Academy East Las Vegas on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Cheyenne out of the water with a 52-6 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.
Eldorado better keep an eye on James Monaghan IV. He was instrumental in Mater Academy East Las Vegas' win, throwing for 378 yards and five TDs while completing 76% of his passes. With that strong performance, Monaghan IV is now averaging an impressive 306.5 passing yards per game.
Mater Academy East Las Vegas' defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Victor Mayea refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself.
Eldorado pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.0 points on average over those games. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 5-3.
Everything came up roses for Eldorado against Mater Academy East Las Vegas in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, as the squad secured a 42-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firehawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
