Pine Ridge got a great performance from Ben Clupper as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Clupper has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kenny Capria was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Luke Wilder also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Pine Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Bishop Moore got the win against Windermere Prep on Friday by a conclusive 13-1. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Jason Forgey looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, Bishop Moore got a massive performance out of Nate Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs. Tyler Lomas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
The victory made it two in a row for Pine Ridge and bumps their season record up to 11-8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Bishop Moore, their record is now 18-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pine Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bishop Moore struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
