Basketball Recap: Carson Baxley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Baker

Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Baker Gators. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 409th, while the Gators are ranked 158th).

Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Baxley, who posted 13 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Baxley is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Ellison, who earned eight points and three steals.

AJ Chilton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Baker, going 7 of 10 on his way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Hardin, who put up nine points.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Baker, their record is now 5-1.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-37 victory against Flomaton on the 12th. As for Baker, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 65-39 win against Kinston on the 12th.
