Juab is 8-2 against Manti since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Juab Wasps will venture away from home to take on the Manti Templars at 3:00 p.m. Juab is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Juab's tournament run continued when they took on Crimson Cliffs last Saturday. Juab fell just short of Crimson Cliffs by a score of 3-2.
Corbin Buchanan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, Juab saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Park, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Manti). They never let Duchesne get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Saturday. With that win, the Templars brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Lane Cox was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Manti is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Cox was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adam Andreasen, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Mason Cherry also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Manti was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive games.
Juab now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Manti, their record is now 3-5.
Juab's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Juab has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Manti, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Juab continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Juab's way against Manti in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Juab made off with a 15-8 victory. Does Juab have another victory up their sleeve, or will Manti turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
