The Pinecrest Patriots put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They came out on top against Lee County by a score of 23-13. Given Pinecrest's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Lee County is ranked 170th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Zymire Spencer went supernova for Pinecrest, rushing for 228 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Spencer's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
Despite the loss, Lee County still got an impressive performance from Bradley Brown Jr., who rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown. Brown Jr. is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played.
Pinecrest's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.8 points per game. As for Lee County, their loss on Friday dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinecrest will challenge Scotland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Scotland's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. As for Lee County, they will head out on the road to face off against Richmond at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
