Softball Recap: Holy Cross Wins Going Away Against Honesdale

While Holy Cross put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Honesdale. The Crusaders were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Hornets. Considering the Crusaders have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

AVA SCHMIDT was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on JULES GALELLA, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was MIA GALELLA, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Holy Cross' victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Honesdale, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Holy Cross will face off against rival Old Forge at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Honesdale is set to challenge their familiar foe Riverside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
