The Dwight-Englewood Bulldogs came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 victory over Seton Hall Prep. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but Dwight-Englewood was the better team in the second half.
Despite the loss, Seton Hall Prep still got an impressive performance from Gino Romano, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals. Romano scored a full 28.2% of Seton Hall Prep's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Ante, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Dwight-Englewood's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Seton Hall Prep, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-5 record last season and are now at 1-4.
Dwight-Englewood will be playing at home against Leonia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Leonia is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Seton Hall Prep won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Clifton at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Clifton is ranked 214th, while Seton Hall Prep is ranked 210th).
