South Summit hasn't had much luck against Ogden recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. South Summit will be strutting in after a victory while Ogden will be coming in after a loss.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when South Summit and Ben Lomond meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Scots by a score of 7-4.
Brody Larsen was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Will Broadhead, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Ogden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-1 to Ridgeline.
Kash Thompson put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Thompson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Green, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Ogden's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for South Summit, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Ogden's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Summit has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. It's a different story for Ogden, though, as they've only averaged .351. Will they be able to contain South Summit's hitters?
South Summit suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Ogden when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
