The Wayne Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on West Point-Beemer with a sharp 64-39 win on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for Wayne who now have five in a row.
Colson Nelsen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points. Caiden Backer was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Colten Haber and Blaize Brockman certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Haber scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Brockman scored eight points. Brockman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Swanson, who scored four points.
Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for West Point-Beemer, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Wayne's road trip will continue as they head out to face Plattsmouth at 8:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Plattsmouth will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 175th, while Wayne is ranked 36th). West Point-Beemer and Wynot will round out the year against one another at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at. One thing working in Wynot's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
