With a playoff game on the line, the Okeene Whippets rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 40-30. That's two games straight that Okeene has won by exactly ten points.
When it comes to explaining why Yale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cornelius Prather. Despite the final result, he threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown. Conner Elliott also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The win (which was Okeene's third in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.0 points per game. As for Yale, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
Okeene is on the road again on Friday and play against Velma-Alma. Velma-Alma knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Okeene likes a good challenge. Yale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
